Is North Florida Christian accredited?
Yes, North Florida Christian holds accreditation from several organizations. The school is accredited in Florida by the Florida Association of Christian Colleges and Schools (FACCS), the school is accredited regionally by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), and nationally and internationally by the Commission on International and Trans-Regional Accreditation (CITA). The school also holds membership in the National Honor Society, and National Junior Honor Society, the Florida Band Master’s Association, and the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA).
On what is the admission decision based?
Admission decisions are based upon a student’s previous school record, a personal interview for students in grades six and higher, results of an admissions test or recent standardized achievement tests. We look at the whole child, both evaluating a student’s readiness and ability to succeed academically in our challenging curriculum, and determining if North Florida Christian is a good fit for that student.
Does the school offer extra help?
Yes, for a student who may need extra help in a particular course, help classes are offered in each course by the teacher.
What extra-curricular programs are available?
There are a wide range of extra-curricular programs available including the visual arts, performing arts, athletic programs, clubs, other leadership opportunities in class officers, and student body officers.
Is bus transportation available?
There is bus transportation available in limited areas in Tallahassee and surrounding areas.
Where do the students eat?
Students in 1st grade and up eat in our Eagle Café while the younger students eat in their classroom or the Eaglet Café. Any student may bring their lunch or choose to take their meals in the Eagle Café. Parents will have the opportunity to select an option of our innovative prepaid lunch program where you do not have to be concerned with sending cash every day. What are the school hours?
The school day begins at 8:05 a.m. and ends at 2:55 p.m.
Does North Florida Christian have a dress code?
Yes, each division of the school has a dress code. While the Preschool dress code is brief and simple, the Elementary and Middle School/High School has a dress code which is appropriate for the age of the students. A copy of the dress code is available from the Admissions office and is contained in the Parent-Student Manuals which can be downloaded from our web site.
Is there before school care and after school care?
Yes, for those in preschool through 6th grade before school care is available each morning in our Eagle Café. After school care is available for students in Preschool, Elementary (5K-5th), and Middle School (6th-8th).
Note: The 6th grade after school program is a part of the Elementary After School Program.
Are there Fine Arts programs at North Florida Christian?
Our fine arts department provides an outstanding education in the visual and performing arts with an emphasis on Christian Worldview of the Arts. The faculty and staff have created a supportive environment in which students can grow in the fields of visual arts, theatre, expressive arts and music, including band and vocal programs. Students compete in districts and state vocal, and band festivals.
Does the school have Middle and High School sports?
North Florida Christian has a solid reputation in the state of Florida for its athletic competition for winning several state, regional and district awards. We are a competitive class 2A school, a member of the Florida High School Activities Association, and offer twelve different sports for boys and girls in grades 6 through 12 with middle school to varsity programs in most programs.
What about technology?
All students from preschool through grade 12 take advantage of state-of-the-art computer labs and classes. Every classroom is equipped with a television for access to various academic media. Renweb enables our parents to view weekly lesson plans, assignments, grades, and test dates. It also allows our parents to change their information, access school directories , calendars, use various payment options for tuition and the Lunch program, and volunteer opportunities and receive electronic news from school staff
Can my child visit North Florida Christian before deciding?
Yes, for students in grades 1-12 we offer a prospective student-shadowing program. A meeting with the student and one of the parents will be scheduled and a date for the shadowing can be scheduled at that time. Just call the Admissions Office to set up a time.
