Most all private schools depend upon various methods of fund-raising to supplement their budgets and raise funds for special projects. Such is the case with our two annual school-wide fund-raisers, as well as with other important gifts we receive from our school families and friends.
For a long time, our two major fund-raisers have consisted of our magazine sale in the fall and the World's Finest Chocolate sale in January. Over the years, both endeavors have served the school well in this important area of fund-raising; however, there have been comments from parents and discussions among our staff at the school about the effectiveness of our magazine sale. From what we heard concerning the magazine sale is that it is the more challenging of the two sales. While many of our students have done a great job in selling magazines, it seems that most of our families enjoy and do better at the World's Finest Chocolate sale.
With the above serving as a historical background concerning our two major fund-raisers, our staff began discussing with various parents a concept that would engage all our school families in a one-day event of games, food, special events, and a silent auction. Along with visiting other schools that currently hold these type fund-raising events, some of our school administrators have met with certain parents who have had prior experience in this type one-day festival. Through those two avenues, we have pulled together all our information and are ready to announce our new fund-raising project that will replace the magazine sale this fall.
Beginning with the new school year, we will be working toward a very successful Harvest Fest that is scheduled for Thursday, November 13. Our NFCS Harvest Fest will be open to the community and will include games for children, food choices for everyone, an art auction, a general store, and a silent auction.
I am pleased to announce that we have in place a great group of enthusiastic parents who will be working together to make our inaugural Harvest Fest a success! These parents will need many other NFCS parents helping them, so if you would like to volunteer for one of the committees listed below, I would encourage you to contact our event coordinator, Cara Wynn, who can be reached at carawynn@nflchurch.com or through the Middle School Office at 386-6327, ext. 122.
