School: North Florida Christian School is a private school with a college preparatory curriculum enrolling students from PK – 12th grade. The school campus is located on over 30 acres in Leon County in northwestern Tallahassee, the capital of Florida. NFCS is a ministry of the North Florida Baptist Church, a Southern Baptist Church with multiple ministries in Tallahassee.
Accreditation: North Florida Christian School is fully accredited by three accrediting bodies - Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS); the Commission on International and Trans-Regional Accreditation (CITA), and the Florida Association of Christian Colleges and Schools (FACCS).
Mission: The mission of North Florida Christian School is “to glorify God.” It is to provide students Christian values with a program of academic excellence for students to be successful in their lifelong process of serving Christ and others as they impact their world.
Honors Courses/Dual Enrollment: English 9, English 10, English 11, World History, American History, Earth Science, Physics, Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, AP Calculus, Tallahassee Community College English (on campus), other off campus courses from TCC, Florida Virtual School.
High School Graduation:
North Florida Christian School requires 24 credits for graduation from high school. Included in the 24 credits there must be: 4 in English, 3.5 in history, 3 in math, 3 in science, 1 in physical education (incl.5 in Team Sports and .5 in Personal Fitness), .5 in Life Management skills, .5 in Introduction to Computer Science, .5 in Speech and Drama, and 1 in Bible for each year a student is at NFCS in grades 9-12. Entering freshmen must have a 2.0 average when they graduate and have satisfactorily passed Algebra I or a similar math. (A 4th credit in Math will be required of entering freshmen (beginning with the 2011 graduating class and following).
Student Leadership and Clubs: National Honor Society, National Junior Honor Society, National Elementary Honor Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Student Advisory Council, High School Student Government, Middle School Student Government, Junior Civitan Club, Key Club, Honor Committee, Class Officers.
